THE NOHC PAGE

You are deciding whether NOHC is right for your team.

This page is built to help you decide: how NOHC runs, what you receive, who built it, the two tiers with full pricing, and the questions teams ask before they say yes.

OUR SCOPE

The seven operating domains.

Six describe the work an organization does. A seventh wires them together.

Governance & Strategy

How you decide and direct. Board oversight, strategic alignment, decision rights, and the documents that show your organization is steered with intent.

Finance & Compliance

How you handle money and meet rules. Controls, reconciliation, audit-readiness, and the evidence funders and regulators expect to see.

People & Culture

How you hire, support, and keep staff and volunteers. Roles, policies, supervision, and the cultural practices that keep an organization stable as it grows.

Fundraising & Donor Standards

How you raise, track, and report on funds. Donor stewardship, restricted fund accounting, and the proof that funders rely on.

Program & Evaluation

How you run programs and prove outcomes. Logic models, indicators, and the cadence that shows your work is making the change you say it is.

Communications

How you show up externally. Brand voice, funder stewardship, member communication, public presence, advocacy, and the crisis playbook funders increasingly expect.

THE CONNECTIVE LAYER

Data, Systems & AI

How your tools, files, and AI all hold up. Where data lives, who can reach it, and whether your systems are funder-, board-, and audit-defensible. This is the layer that wires the other six together so the work can run.

METHODOLOGY

How NOHC runs.

Every engagement runs the same diagnostic across all seven domains. What changes is what we hand back: a PDF, or a working portal your board uses.

WHO BUILT IT

Built by an operator, not a consultant.

Founder portrait
Ben Serunyigo
Founder, Nimara Technology Inc.
Edmonton, Alberta

Ben founded Nimara after years inside Canadian nonprofit operations. The pattern was the same in every organization he worked with: capable people doing important work on infrastructure that did not exist. So he built the infrastructure first, then the methodology to make it stick.

Ben is based in Edmonton. He personally takes on grant writing, funding strategy, and capacity reviews for organizations he cares about. Nimara, the company, builds the operating substrate. The two are kept separate on purpose. When you engage Nimara, you engage Nimara. When you engage Ben directly for funding work, that is a separate conversation.

Nimara is a federally incorporated Canadian company (1736980-8). NOHC has been delivered across multiple Canadian nonprofits since launch.

Ruthless on systems. Graceful on people. Most consultants pick one. We hold both sides.
BEN SERUNYIGO, FOUNDER

ONE DEEP EXAMPLE

How a newly registered Black-led charity used NOHC to convert media credibility into stewardable funding.

Anonymized at the client's request. The pattern is common across newly registered charities with public visibility but no operating substrate.

BEFORE NOHC

A founder carrying everything

The founder ran the foundation pro bono on top of a full-time job. The board existed in name. Documents existed but were scattered across personal drives. A CBC feature had driven donations but most went un-stewarded.

Charity status had been granted recently. The first T3010 was due in 47 days. The founder's hours per week on the foundation were unsustainable. Funders had stopped renewing.

DURING NOHC

Three domains needed to move

Across the seven operating domains, three sat at Tier 1 Reactive: Governance and Strategy, People and Culture, and Communications. Finance and Compliance were at Tier 2 because the treasurer was a CPA volunteer and the bookkeeping was current.

The Exposure Map named the highest-leverage gaps. No committee structure. No documented receipting policy. No stewardship sequence for the CBC audience. No Compliance Calendar.

The Build Map prioritized a four-week sprint that would close the highest-stakes gaps before the first T3010 filing.

AFTER NOHC

A working substrate the board uses

The Operating Portal landed at portal.theirorg.ca on Day 88. Three committees stood up with named chairs. Policies consolidated into a single library. The Compliance Calendar populated with the first T3010, the Alberta Societies Act annual return, and the annual COI cycle.

The CBC cohort received a structured welcome sequence. The treasurer's receipting workflow auto-generated CRA-compliant receipts.

The founder's hours per week dropped. The board started picking up tasks from a shared marketplace. Three funder conversations re-opened within 60 days.

The portal made the difference. We had been telling funders we were doing the work. After NOHC, we could show them the substrate. That is a different conversation.

THE DECISION

Two ways to engage. Pick the one that matches what you will do with the findings.

Both tiers begin with the same diagnostic you read about in the Methodology section. They differ in what you receive at the end and what your team can do with it. There is also a no-commitment starting point (Free Snapshot) for teams who are still exploring.

Response within 48 hours

A light intake form that surfaces your top operating pressure and the recommended next step. Many teams use this before booking a Fit Session.

DECIDE LATER

NOHC Insight Report

$3,500

4-week engagement

The full NOHC diagnostic delivered as a PDF Decision Summary. Includes a 60-minute Decision Session. Best for teams who want findings now and decide later what to do with them.

90-day upgrade credit. If you choose Insight Report now and decide to upgrade to Operating Portal within 90 days of your Decision Session, your $3,500 credits in full toward the $6,500. You only pay the $3,000 difference. Findings migrate. No rework.
RECOMMENDED

WORKING SUBSTRATE

NOHC Operating Portal

$6,500

90-day engagement

The same diagnostic delivered as a working portal at your custom domain. Your board uses it. They do not read it.

  • A working Nimara-branded Operating Portal at portal.yourorg.ca
  • Ready to use on Day 1, with pre-loaded policy templates, Compliance Calendar, and 24-month Strategic Plan template
  • 12 months of portal hosting and light maintenance included
  • 90-day operational guarantee. Live at Day 90 or we work at no additional charge until it is.
Roughly $11,000 of substrate at $6,500. Risk reversed by the guarantee. Most teams choose this tier because the report alone tends to get filed. The portal gets used.

FOR TEAMS READY TO BUILD

Already know what you need to build?

Some teams come to us with the priority already clear. We start with a short scoping step to confirm it is the right build, then move into Build.

Ask about a Build

Build Sprint and System Care are scoped after NOHC. NOHC does not guarantee funding, audit results, compliance outcomes, or board approval. What NOHC guarantees is delivery of the substrate and methodology described above.

QUESTIONS

Common questions before you book.

These are the questions teams ask before saying yes. If you have one we have not answered, bring it to the Fit Session.

That is normal. Most teams we work with have some documents in one place, others in another, and some only in people's heads. NOHC starts with what you have. The Exposure Map names what is missing. You do not need to get ready before booking.

NOHC works at every stage of board maturity. If your board is pre-Forming (roles unclear, policies scattered), Phase 1 Build is the natural follow-on. If your board is functioning, NOHC shows you which two or three domains to mature next. We do not assume a polished starting point.

NOHC observes your practice and maps it against established standards. Whether you are audit-ready is something your auditor certifies, not Nimara. What NOHC does is show you exactly what evidence you have, what is missing, and what to build so the audit conversation goes better.

If you choose Insight Report at $3,500 and decide within 90 days of your Decision Session that you want the full Operating Portal, your $3,500 credits in full toward the $6,500. You pay only the $3,000 difference. The findings from your Insight Report migrate into the portal with no rework.

We work at no additional charge until your portal is live and operational at your custom domain. We define operational as: portal accessible at your domain, NOHC modules populated, starter operating modules in place, admin guide delivered, walkthrough completed. The clock pauses for client unresponsiveness over 10 business days, client-requested scope changes, or force majeure.

No. Most of what you need is already in your stack. NOHC organizes the record across what you already use. The Operating Portal gives your board a single substrate to log into. Your underlying tools stay.

System Care begins in Year 2. We scope it then based on how your team is using the portal and what evolved over the first year. There is no surprise renewal fee at Day 366.

Three things. First, we deliver a working substrate, not a slide deck or PDF that gets filed. Second, our methodology references the same standards funders, regulators, and boards look at, so the findings are defensible. Third, the Decision Summary is plain language, not jargon, so your board can actually use it.

Have a question that is not here? Bring it to a Fit Session below.

WHEN YOU ARE READY

Want to talk first?

A Fit Session is 30 minutes on video. No deck. No sales pitch. Three questions, a clear recommendation, and a door that opens both ways.

WHAT WE WILL ASK

  • What is your operation carrying right now?
  • What is the next thing that has to happen?
  • What is in the way?

WHAT YOU WILL LEAVE WITH

  • A clear recommendation. Free Snapshot, Insight Report, Operating Portal, or none of these.
  • If NOHC is not the right fit, a referral to someone better suited.
  • The next move. Whatever you decide.

If NOHC is not right for your team, we say so. We do not pitch what you do not need.

NOHC is not an audit, legal review, accounting review, compliance guarantee, funding decision, or AI-only assessment. NOHC observes your operating practice and shows you the next step. Your auditor, regulator, funder, and board certify outcomes.
